Greetings friends, and apologies in advance if it seems like this newsletter is turning into Italy: A Love Story. (If only Grandmas Catrino and Turano were still here to appreciate this!) In case you missed it, last week’s bonus newsletter was a recap of my fall 2025 trip to Rome, and today I feel the need to tell you right at the top that I’m obsessing a little over Giulia Scarpaleggia’s new book Vegetables, The Italian Way. It’s a stunningly photographed 260-page love letter to resourcefulness and the tradition of cucina povera, or, the practice of transforming seasonal, affordable ingredients into the most comfortingly gorgeous vegetable-forward meals. I can’t imagine any mother or human not being completely thrilled to unwrap this on Mother’s Day. Here are Three (more) Things I’m excited to tell you about this week…
