Last fall, leading up to the publication of The Weekday Vegetarians: Get Simple, my publicity team and I brainstormed creative ways that might help spread the word about the book. Not surprisingly, instagram came up first, specifically instagram reels, the short videos that the Meta algorithm favors and that seem to have the most potential to reach new readers and cooks. “What if you did a ‘day-in-the-life’ reel?” someone suggested. I thought about this in earnest for approximately ten seconds before realizing how hilarious it would be if I did an honest account of my daily routine, because most of my days look something like this: Walk the dog to get coffee, write at my kitchen table, walk the dog, write, walk the dog, work out and shop for dinner, then cook and eat dinner (almost always, at home) walk the dog, watch TV, read in bed. Maybe it could be an ironic video? Like a parody of someone with an exciting life? I was thinking about all this the other day while scrolling through spring photos and came to a realization: My day-to-days might not be the stuff of influencer life, but my week-to-weeks and month-to-months? It adds up to…well, I did manage to get out and about these past few months. So as we wave goodbye to spring (so nice to see you, summer!) I thought I’d round up a few of the highlights of the season…
