Love those pretzels and adore Jane Eyre. I’m glad you are reading it with your daughters.

I love reading books with my oldest daughter. Absolutely the best!! I’m guilty of not having read Jane Eyre as well. Will get on it asap.

After Jane Eyre, check out Wide Sargasso Sea, by Jean Rhys. It’s a prequel about Bertha and it’s so wonderful.

Read this in college! Loved it

Such beautiful photos!

There are so many texts from high school/college that I breezed through (or SparkNotes-ed through) and so wish I had put in more effort into those texts.

And…those pretzels are so addictive. A bag is never safe near me.

Love this! My Mom and I often read the same books at the same time. ❤️ 📕

Inspiring as always, Jenny! I now feel the pull to make some Irish soda bread, as well as the smoky black bean bowls, and secure a copy of Jane Eyre! My kids aren't reading on their own yet, but this post makes me excited for what's to come. I've just started reading chapter books to my 5-year-old, and it's pure magic to see the storyline and characters starting to resonate with her. ✨✨✨

I picked up Great Expectations last year (tentatively) because my son was reading it in English and ended up really enjoying it! I love reading along with my kids when it works out and it’s something I can get into.

We are staying near Columbus Circle for ease of getting around since it’s our first visit with the kids. We are working within a nice budget so cost isn’t a concern, especially for delicious food. Thanks in advance!

Loved the inspiration to read what your children are reading as a way to connect!

When I was a kid in the late 1950s, my father’s cousin, John Fraser, starred in a tv production of Dorian Gray. I remember watching it on our black and white tv. Embarrassing for me to say I’ve never read Of Mice and Men…and I have a degree in English and an MLS.

Hi Jenny! My family and I are coming to NYC for spring break. Our daughters are 9 and 12, and our 9 year old is a pretty picky eater. I so appreciate all the dinner recommendations you give, but was wondering if you have any that are particularly nice for adults but also are places where kids, especially picky ones, wouldn’t feel unwelcome. Thanks in advance!

Where will you be in NYC and what is your budget $ - $$$$ ?

I have a daughter Phoebe too, and I named her after Holden’s little sister. It was such a delight when she was finally old enough to read The Catcher in the Rye and we got to talk about it. Still one of my favorite literary characters of all time!

That’s my Phoebe’s namesake as well 🧢

My oldest is in 5th grade and I love reading what she’s reading or (sooo slowly omg it’s soooo slow) doing a read aloud w my kids. Can’t wait for middle school now!!

Oh my gosh, your daughter’s description makes me want to reread Jane Eyre too.

Those honey mustard and onion pretzels are undefeated. I love tasting them with a turkey sandwich for lunch.

I meant “eating them” 😑 but certainly tasting them is a part of that.

Jane helped me get through young adulthood -- time for another read!

For more off-Broadway gems I love the Manhattan Theatre Club.
