Demon Coppehead! Demon Copperhead! Demon Copperhead! It is worth every bit of praise and admiration it’s getting. Also the novel Foster by Irish author Claire Keegan is remarkable.
My favorite romance of the fall, FRIENDS DON'T FALL IN LOVE, by Erin Hahn, comes out today and it's MAGNIFICENT! Swoony and heartswoopy, with a country music backdrop and a Chicks-style heroine who is over the misogyny of country music. You need it!
The best book I read this year BY FAR is Run Toward the Danger by Sarah Polley. A memoir collection of essais. Her writing is just astonishingly good, I was mesmerized. It moved me so much that I cried several times while reading.

Yes to both!

You MUST be in a good mental place before starting, but Migrations by Charlotte McConaghy was intense and beautiful
I just finished North Woods. It was good as I was reading, but man, the last 10 pages were simply amazing. Still thinking about them. Recommend!!
Yes, that ending was a tour de force.
Loved The Rachel Incident!
The Night Watchman by Louise Erdrich was fantastic! Beautifully written, compelling story.
Yes, great novel.
I LOVED North Woods- I’m reminded of parts of it almost daily. Thank you for the recommendation.

Agreed. Another memoir I really liked this year was Biting the Hand: Growing Up Asian in Black and White America by Julia Lee.
Thanks for the recommendation!
Dannon Strawberry Yogurt Bars w. Carob was likely the only store-bought sweet I was allowed to have as a kid. Core memory!
YES those yogurt bars. Boysenberry was it for me.
Boysenberry sounds so exotic for the 80s! Why don't I remember it?
Oh those dannon yogurt bars!!! Covenant of Water was fantastic.
“Ahab’s Wife” by Sena Jeter Naslund was both epic adventure and full of detail for the senses !!
This is SUCH a good book - I'm so happy to be reminded of it. One of the only books I reread every few years.
Thank you for reminding me of this one!
I just tore through the Vaster Wilds by Lauren Groff which was an unexpected win for me.
I just finished Lucky Red - an edge of your seat feminist western - so exciting!
The Book of More Delights by Ross Gay is a delight itself.
Dept of Speculation by Jenny Offill. I did not leave my seat from start to finish. I found it luminous, full of love, loss, longing and hope.
