The "Father Brown" series and "Rosemary and Thyme" are good cozy mysteries. My teen and I have Thyme-time every Thursday night where we watch whatever is up next in the series we're in. I'll add all creatures to our watch list - thanks for the recommendation!
Wow! I guess we all need to watch the Durrels of Corfu. Sounds awesome. I came on to suggest "Trying" on Apple TV. It is so funny and sweet and heartfelt. Adorable British actors. Love it.
I love your Ten Things to Memorize idea and this simple chicken prep is a great starting point because it’s so simple and the payoff is substantial. For upbeat tv watching I recommend Amazing Attorney Woo on Netflix.
So happy to see some love for All Creatures, which is the only family watching we can agree on as kids range in age from 10 to 18. It’s best enjoyed on a snowy evening but alas, we haven’t had any of those this winter.
Call the Midwife is our fallback when we need low key. Although, I have to agree with the Durrels of Corfu and All Creatures which we loved in the 70's especially.
this is now a tangent rec but i saw someone mention jeremy clarkson's farm so if you haven't watched james may "our man in japan", i highly recommend that. it came out a few years ago but i wish i could watch it again for the first time. those dinners we were watching this show and just enjoying the scenery and at times cracking up were so lovely and relaxing.
(also, thanks for all the extra content in this newlsetter via the links, and suggestions, and of course as always the beautiful food photos. that chicken salad...omg.)
It is DREAMY. We watched the first several seasons (till they paused production when the story line gets to outbreak of war) on ... Prime? Maybe? during the pandemic .... then purchased the rest. It’s heaven
The Durrels of Corfu is along the same lines. I watched it after my dad died a few years ago and it was such a balm.
came here to say the same! the durrels are just such a delight to spend time with. i wish i could watch the entire series for the first time again. 💙
Was coming here to recommend Durrells too!
It might be time for a rewatch!
If you can find it, Detectorists has a lot of those warm bath qualities! All Creatures is going on our watch list.
I love Detectorists! Have watched so many times I have practically memorized the dialogue.
I think it's currently on Acorn TV!
Yes, that's where it lives, at least right now.
Please write a ‘10 things to know” list - great idea!
The durells of Corfu
Anne with an E is amazing, third the Durrells. Dickinson is refreshing. Even Call the Midwife, a little more drama, but great stories.

Some other thoughts:
* Round the World in 80 Days starring David Tennant (BBC I think)
* A Suitable Boy (BBC and Netflix)
* Jeremy Clarkson 's The Farm (Amazon Prime) - this is quite sweary but very funny and lovely too.
* Stanley Tucci's Italy series - can't remember the name

If you love All Creatures, I highly recommend The Durrells in Corfu. Similar in feeling in many ways, with some Greek Island house porn thrown in.
All Creatures has been SUCH a bright spot of joy. Such a balm of a show.

Could you find the original BBC adaptation of All Creatures? I remember watching it being filmed as a child (early 90s)

Another vote for Detectorists.
