I, too, was visiting VT over the weekend and shopped at the Middlebury Co-op several times. While I wasn’t shopping for produce, I did buy several Daily Chocolate bars (from nearby Vergennes), which is my favorite chocolatier. And the bookstore in Middlebury is one of the nicest indie booksellers...so it was a weekend of delicious chocolate and great reading.

Sounds like a lovely weekend! I haven't tried Daily Chocolate yet, but will look for it next time. I'm super into Farmhouse Chocolates these days, which I first tried at the Tillerman, and then found at the co-op.

I also bought Farmhouse Chocolate’s fennel pollen-strawberry bar. How could I resist?

Yum. So simple and not what we ordinarily have. Just. Yum.

My eyes widened when I saw you stayed in Bristol. I have a friend that opened a shop/cafe/jam making space in town. Any chance you went to minifactory?

Another great newsletter, btw! :)

My first asparagus spear has burst through. Oh the anticipation of cutting my first batch. Griddle pan is ready!

Any tips of making great crepes? I never seem to get them thin enough or they don't cook properly...

“Heaven is a pot of chili simmering on the stove. If I were to write about the happiest days of my life, many of them would have to do with food and wine and a table full of friends. One could compose an autobiography mentioning every memorable meal in one’s life and it would probably make better reading than what one ordinarily gets. Honestly, what would you rather have, the description of a first kiss or of stuffed cabbage done to perfection?” Love!!!

Stanley Tucci proved him right. Bummed I missed the Q&A with your partner but enjoyed reading through it. That someone asked him for a beach read cracked me up the most. "Not my forte..."

Oh Jenny, you made my day. It's been 4 years since we went to Vermont. We came from CA for our visit so it requires a bit of scheduling.

Looking forward to going back and trying places you mentioned.

Anxious to make the mushroom and asparagus crepe or possible subbing a tasty herb tortilla. Appreciate the time you took to share your visit, the recipe, as well as all the suggestions which followed!
