The Nantes carrot variety taught me that all carrot varieties are not the same…and don’t get me started on those “baby carrots.” A reformed peeler now and forever. Then there were the worst carrots I ever tasted, bought in a grocery store in Switzerland, nonetheless.
Thank you for the novel rec! Also--I am equally obsessed with Samin's new book. It has been a while since a book inspired me to contemplate cooking it in its entirety.
Those meatballs of yours are an absolute staple in our house. I still make them at least once/ month. They freeze so well, too.

It’s the lemon and fennel seeds that put the meatballs over the top. A family fav!
mystery is solved! :)
I just love everything you share - and that carrot recipe in particular sounds incredible!
“Search” is one of the best books I have read in recent years. Not sure why it didn’t get as much traction as others.
Me either, because literally every single person I know who read it was obsessed with it, including me! I put Bug Hollow on hold today.
The meatballs sound amazing! Thanks for sharing.
I read Search years ago, after serving on a search committee, and loved it. Adding Bug Hollow to my list!
I read Search while I was serving on a search committee and while my congregation was quite different, I could relate to many of the issues.
Ah my beloved chicken parm meatballs! I used to make that recipe all the time - will have to put it back into rotation!
