Breakfast burritos, cheesy bean & rice burritos, falafel wrapped as a burrito, Costco’s Gyro Meat wrapped as a burrito. Basically, any burrito. I will also often buy a GIANT Jersey Mike’s Italian Sub, cut into 6 & then throw oranges or apples in the bag too.
Unless the host/hostesses has said to go ahead and eat, beginning to eat your meal before the host is at the table and holding a fork is extremely poor manners!! Really, WHO took their time to create this meal you’re about to consume? What’s your excuse for being in this much of an hurry? I agreed with you!!
Beautiful wallpaper, Jenny! I keeping thinking about hanging wallpaper but chicken out.
Thanks for asking about dinner ideas. I really appreciate it!
I’ll add my ideas for others that are in the same boat...
Tonight is a riff on calzone/hand pies. TJ’s pizza dough with toppings from the fridge--spinach, mozzarella, Kalamata olives, and marinated artichokes. It was almost filled with chicken tikka masala, maybe next time.
We make grain bowls, curry chicken/chickpea salad sandwiches in pita bread with cashews and raisins, falafel sandwiches, sushi like burrito with canned tuna, spicy Mayo, avocado, ginger, and cucumber, and some nights good old PB&J’s with a bag of Classic Lay’s on the side.
My kids play football, baseball, softball, and dance, so I feel like I spend 3/4 of my life in the car or sitting on bleachers or in camping chairs. I find adult lunchables my go to when I'm hungry and it's going to be a late night. Pita crackers or Wheat Thins, pepperoni/deer sausage/rolled up deli turkey, and cheddar cheese (and a piece of dark chocolate! or a handful of peanut M&Ms) keep me satiated and are easy to transport.
Such pretty wallpaper! Good pick! Would love to know where your chairs and benches are from. I'm looking for something similar since I'm renovating my dining nook.
I'm in the late camp - from someone who is constantly texting her guests for an extra 15 minutes! May I ask where your dining benches are from? Love their simplicity!
I love to take Caesar Pasta Salad to games/practices/the beach. It’s so easy.
In each person’s container I put: chopped romaine lettuce, cooked & cooled pasta (usually penne or rotini, but whatever works) that’s tossed with bottled Caesar dressing & Parmesan cheese and some chicken (an easy and delicious option is the prep-cooked lemon grilled chicken from TJ’s). Then add more dressing on top. 😁 At home I’ve been known to add roasted cherry tomatoes.
Ah.... to have my recipes in your kitchen is a BIG treat, Jenny. That char siu chicken is a personal favorite path to blessed banh mi!
the treat is all mine Andrea! xoxoxo
As a host, I count on those 15 minutes
Same same!!

Thermos rice bowl! Edamame, Fishwife or other yummy tinned fish, cabbage, chili crisp, furikake.
oh that is an amazing idea
This sounds delicious and easy to pull together.

What we call "Angie wraps" after my aunt who introduced them to us - hummus, salad greens, shredded carrots and beets, avocado and sriracha :)
I made the easy banana bread you posted last week. It took 65 minutes to cook but was terrific!

They were built custom for the space before we arrived at the apartment. One of the things that sold me on the place! Sorry can't be more helpful.

They were here when we moved -- custom.
I love the new wallpaper, and it was so lovely to meet you last week! Very excited to go check out some low-stakes sparring.
loved meeting you Brooke!!!
I just want to say that the episode of the office that you included the photo from was one of the funniest ever. :)
the absolute best
And forgot to say I love the wallpaper! And the dog!
