Greetings eaters and readers! As promised, here is your more detailed account of our whirlwind four-day trip to London last week. We were visiting our 21-year-old daughter, Phoebe, who is lucky enough to be studying there for the semester, and other than a few dinners that we had booked beforehand, she was the one driving the itinerary. I can’t overstate how momentous this felt to me. We have been to London a few times, but this visit felt different — even though we are obviously tourists, and Phoebe has only been there for a few weeks, we really felt like we got to see the city through a local’s eyes. Phoebe has her neighborhood coffee shop and pub, her favorite orders in those coffee shops and pubs. She has her favorite museum gallery where she goes to write and draw and her go-to park trails where she runs and walks with friends. We were only there for four days, but I’m pleased to report that we left it all on the field. Here’s the breakdown…
