I just read a meaningful, meditative book that I think you would appreciate: “My Beautiful Terrible Pandemic Life.” Author is Amy Suardi.

This tart!! We have a winter CSA share this year and there has been a LOT of cabbage - at least 4 lbs every other week. I like cabbage just fine, but I am really running out of ideas when we get so much of it. My 9 year old flat out refuses to eat any more of it. But I made this tart, and I served it without comment, and he ate it! Thanks for adding to my arsenal of cabbage recipes.

there are two things everyone should remember:

1. do unto others as you would have them do unto you and

2. there is no ethical consumption under capitalism

and maybe 3, as my kindergarten teachers used to say, don't sweat the small stuff.

Oh man, that Chick-fil-a "dilemma" got me. I don't eat there but I know many of my fellow Democrats in Texas who do. Granted, I am not a mother with two screaming kids in my backseat, so the choice to avoid it is easier for me. However, my 'vote with your wallet' stance was called into question on mornings my coworkers would bring our team breakfast. There was always one guy who brought CFA. I'd internally debate, do I skip breakfast? Do I just drink office coffee? Do I just eat it because yes, it's good, okay FINE pass me another mini biscuit!...I wasn't going to use team breakfast as political soapbox time, after all, that won't change anyone's minds. So I ate the damn biscuit. And I just try to choose where I spend my dollars when I can. They don't make it easy though.

Man City-Spurs was a delight to watch, rooting for Spurs all the way as a Liverpool fan :-). Highlight of our soccer watching weekend was Salah’s 150th goal for the Reds…another thing of beauty!

Can’t wait to try the galette recipe and listen to the podcast!

Oh man, longtime die-hard Spurs fan here... had a proud moment last Saturday when my almost-three-year-old yelled "Harry Kane!" when he saw Harry warming up and then later "I like Sonny" as we watched that amazing, thrilling match. Ha, I told him "Sonny likes you, too!"

Thank you for sharing How to Be Perfect and reminding me to revisit your father-in-law's beautiful eulogy.

Smart kid, your three-year-old! I can't stop watching the highlights, esp that goal I linked to, an absolute thing of beauty

Impossible not to have a smile on your face while watching the highlights... I still replay highlights from their match vs. Ajax in 2019 (when my baby was a few days old!) when I need a pick-me-up :) My 8-year-old son may or may not have convinced us to name his little brother Hugo... hopefully he won't grow up resentful of being "named after" a goalkeeper! The name stuck and it suits him :)
