I really enjoy reading your 3 things. My MIL asked several years ago that we send "consumable" gifts only when we want to send a gift. We've done all kinds of things (bubble bath, tea, hand lotion), but the one that got rave reviews was Graeter's ice cream. They ship nationwide. She eagerly awaits the shipments. They have a vanilla; I haven't tried it. (It's probably more expensive than Haagen Daas. Ha!)

Giffords is awful! I agree with B&J as the winner -

As a Texan, my loyality is to Blue Bell for ice cream. I know it is now sold outside of TX but not everywhere in the country.

I love rhubarb shrubs - use vinegar instead of water in your syrup. Put a lid on it and crank up the fan!

i think breyer's is gross. and i never buy vanilla ice cream with "flecks", it just always tastes terrible. i knew b&j would be the winner! i swear they've added more and more sugar to their other ice creams (the ones with all the "stuff") over the years and i really don't like b&j anymore, sadly, but the plain flavors are still excellent - the only drawback is the plain flavors are often hard to come by.

my partner loves the "golden vanilla" (the vanilla ice cream that's yellow) and we actually had good results with the target brand earlier this year when i made mexican brownies and topped with the aforementioned ice cream for his birthday. i also haven't tried the vanilla, but i actually really like the amazon brand chocolate ice cream, and the coffee chip was good also. (nostalgia factor on 1000 for the chocolate - i don't always want locally made organic dark 34908.9080% cacao whatever lol.)

finally, speaking of italian sub flavored things, this recipe from SK has been a favorite for years:

https://smittenkitchen.com/2014/06/nancys-chopped-salad/

just make the dressing. make the salad any way you want, or use the dressing for pasta salad, or use it to marinate tomatoes and thinly sliced red onion...seriously it's soooo good and good for so many things. in the "could make an old shoe edible" file.

My mom used to make a version of the Italian Combo Salad all summer (for picnics and to take to the pool). You just brought me right back to my childhood.
