Meat as condiment, a small way to add big flavor, a biography I tore through
Made the artichoke pasta last night for my picky kids (alongside a bagged Caesar salad) and they TOTALLY ate it. I loved the fried capers - kids called them “dead flies” and opted out of them for their second round of pasta, ha.
dead flies, that's hilarious. Lukas Volger called them "vegetarian bacon bits" - you might try that with the kids next time :)
Anchovy bread crumbs! And that young John Jr. Both are a bright spot for my week; thank you, Jenny.
substack was telling me the newsletter was "too long" but I just couldn't bring myself to cut that photo!
I look forward to this every Tuesday! Thank you!

"John F Kennedy JOONYA" Elaine Benes (every time I think of him, I think of the Seinfeld episode THE CONTEST. I wonder what he thought about it.)
It's in the book! He was working at the DAs office at the time and noticed even more buzz than usual around him the morning after the episode ran...
thank you for drawing my attention to the cider-braised chicken—just made it for the first time and that cider shallot sauce is unreal!
Thank you for the recipe!
