I have made Carolina's beans alla vodka COUNTLESS times (from her Instagram post pre-cookbook) and can't wait to see what else is in her cookbook! If you haven't tried the recipe yet, I highly, highly recommend. :)

I’m also excited about ‘The Sequel’ but feel like I need to re-read (or at least get a refresher on) ‘The Plot’ before reading it. I remember loving ‘The Plot’ a couple of years ago! Anyone else feel the same way?

Yes! I was just thinking that! I read it so fast, it was so compelling and interesting and readable that I have mostly forgotten EVERYTHING about it. I'm fact, I had to go read the synopsis to make sure I was thinking about the right book. (This happens a lot to me when I read something I really like. I read it too fast and thus absorb none of it, while simultaneously telling everyone to read it.)

Jean Hanff Korelitz is on this week's NYT Book Review podcast talking about 'The Sequel.' She offers a brief refresher of 'The Plot,' which helped refresh my memory.

I peeled, seeded and diced a honeynut squash, tossed with olive oil, S/P and air fried at 360 degrees for 15-17 min, meanwhile, cooked and crumbled one pound of bulk hot italian sausage, once cooked, I added sliced red onion and the roasted squash to the pan and followed air fryer method for a package of potato gnocci. I wilted in one large bag of baby spinach into the pan with the sausage and squash, freshly grated parmesan and about 3/4 cup heavy cream, then folded in the crispy gnocci and let it all come together. Family raved about it!

I'm devouring her memoir. It's so inspiring. And these recipes have made me feel more confident going into our busy season with kids!

I also loved Shuggie Bain, but found Young Mungo incredibly violent and unpleasant - both have stayed with me but YM in a “try not to think about it” way, whereas SB, like Demon Copperfield has a stronger arc of reassuring redemption
