Thanks for the Daily Provisions tip! I love a breakfast sandwich but not too much bread. My sister lives on the UWS and my daughter on UES and I'm visiting next month. I hope to try that sandwich! I'm planning to make the empanadas this evening after drooling over the recipe for a few weeks now :)

BEC *has* to have American cheese. I actually double-checked to make sure you didn't recommend cheddar, because then we would have to have words. Such a relief to find you are in agreement!

I have been obsessed with making this (trashy) egg sandwich for months -- on a toasted English muffin I butter one half and put a slice of American cheese on the other, right out of the toaster, then immediate put an over-medium egg on the cheese side (to melt the cheese), a dollop of maple syrup on the buttered side, and top that with a fake sausage patty. I drizzle a bit more syrup on top of the fake sausage, liberally apply sriracha or similar to the egg, and smash the halves together. It's messy, but So Good.

I always read my Substack first thing Saturday AM with my coffee (in bed of course!) and immediately went to the kitchen and made my version of your breakfast sandwich after reading your comment! Heavenly. Maple syrup and sriracha....genius! Thank you.

I didn’t realize you were on the UWS! Daily Provisions egg sandy FTW. They used to have a broccoli melt that I dream about all the time and hope they bring back this winter. It was THE BEST.
